Extra Activities

This document contains many additional contextualized activities on Relationships to support English, Maths and work readiness skills as well as PSHE and Life Skills. There are two versions of each task for ready differentiation. V1 is the standard version, v2 is the simplified version.

Answers are found within the staff section. These activities support all learners, most particularly those with literacy, numeracy and/or social communication needs.

What is a family? Questions and discussion points on what a family is, including nuclear, blended and extended family.
A festive compromise Activity charting different family members’ interests and coming to a compromise.
Family friendly Reading about a family at Christmas and noticing grammatical mistakes.
You as a partner Writing speed dating profiles and discussion. Questions on marriage and relationships.
A night on the town Reading a passage about a night out that goes wrong when a boy puts his arms round a girl he doesn’t know and what happens next.
Moving in A couple are looking at moving in together but have some complaints about each other. The tasks asks you to read their complaints and ask questions about serious relationships and moving in.
Engaged A couple get engaged. Questions about being engaged and serious relationships after reading a conversation between them.
Dating agency A young woman wants to use a dating agency and is costing up the different options.
A neighbourly dispute A neighbourly dispute about a fence including numeracy and literacy activities.
The art of conversation An activity about chatting at a wedding with people you don’t know. A chart with things to do and not do e.g. show eye contact.
Whose disability An activity where a young woman has a client who is blind but wasn’t made aware. Activities about the importance of supporting people with disabilities.
A social occasion An activity about someone who is anxious about a social occasion organised by work. Activities on advice and strategies.
